On Thursday, June 4, 2020, the 5th virtual meeting of the Community of Practice was held, coordinated by the UNESCO Regional Chair for Women in Science and Technology and FLACSO Argentina, with the participation of 10 people representing academic institutions from different Latin American countries (Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay).
Prior to this meeting, the members of the CoP were consulted about the issues they considered relevant to address in the CoP meetings and to organize the agenda for future meetings on that basis. A list was proposed in which the following topics were included:
- Processes of institutionalization of gender equality policies/programs in academic centers: driving factors and strategies to address obstacles and resistances.
- Virtualization: security-privacy-legality in the adaptation of protocols and procedures for addressing issues of gender violence and cyber-bullying and other expressions
- Procedures and/or actions to generate evidence on the effects of the pandemic on gender gaps in academic institutions.
- Adaptation and implementation of the GEAM diagnostic tool.
From this list, the topics that attracted the most interest were (ordered by number of preferences)
Processes of institutionalization of gender equality policies/programs in academic institutions: drivers and strategies to address barriers and resistance.
Incorporation of a gender perspective in training processes (curriculum, pedagogical practices)
Virtualization: security, privacy and legality in the adaptation of protocols and procedures to address issues of gender violence, virtual harassment and other expressions.
This selection allows for the organization of the agenda of topics to be worked on in future CoP meetings and, based on this, the 5th Meeting addressed the issue of the processes of institutionalization of GE policies in academic institutions.
